The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has summoned the registered owner and the driver of a van involved in a fatal road crash in Tagaytay City that claimed the lives of three people, including a pregnant woman.
Acting on the directive of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to hold erring motorists accountable, LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Vigor D. Mendoza II said a show cause order (SCO) has been issued against the owner of the Nissan Grand Livina involved in the June 2025 incident.
“We are also coordinating with the local police to secure all necessary evidence, including reports that the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash,” Mendoza said.
The crash occurred along the bypass road in Barangay Zambal, where the van reportedly crossed into the opposite lane and collided with a sedan. All three occupants of the sedan, including a pregnant woman, died on the spot. The van’s driver and four other passengers sustained injuries.
LTO Region 4A Director Elmer Decena said the van’s registered owner must explain, under oath, why the vehicle was entrusted to an “improper person” and why the registration should not be suspended or revoked.
The driver will also be required to justify why his driver’s license should not be revoked due to the incident.
“This administrative investigation is separate from the criminal liability being determined by the police,” Decena clarified.
Failure to respond to the summons within five days will be treated as a waiver, and the LTO will proceed with appropriate administrative action based on the available evidence.
