MANILA, Philippines — The southwest monsoon, or habagat, will continue to bring scattered rains and thunderstorms to parts of the country on Monday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its latest forecast.
In its 4 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said habagat will affect Metro Manila, Calabarzon, BARMM, Soccsksargen, the Davao Region, and the provinces of Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan.
Moderate to heavy rains in these areas could lead to flash floods or landslides, the agency warned.
The rest of the country may experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, which could also bring localized severe weather conditions.
Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas are expected across the archipelago.
Meanwhile, a low pressure area outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) developed into a tropical depression Sunday night. However, PAGASA forecaster Daniel Villamil said it is not expected to enter PAR or affect any part of the country in the coming days.
