MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. arrived in the Philippines on Sunday following a four-day working visit to Osaka, Japan, where he said he secured new partnerships and investments aimed at generating jobs, promoting sustainability, and strengthening ties between the Philippines and Japan although he did not provide any specific information about it.
Describing the trip as “productive,” Marcos said the agreements forged during the visit would help improve the lives of Filipinos through job creation and increased economic activity.
“We return inspired to continue building a Bagong Pilipinas that delivers more jobs, more investments, and more opportunities for every Filipino,” he said in a statement.
Among the key outcomes of the visit were new business commitments from Japanese firms. Kanadevia Corporation is partnering with Philippine Ecology Systems Corp. on a waste-to-energy project, while Tsuneishi Group is set to build the world’s first methanol dual-fueled KAMSARMAX bulk carrier in Cebu, creating jobs and advancing the country’s leadership in green shipping.
The President also visited the Philippine Pavilion at the World Expo 2025 in Osaka, which he said showcases the nation’s rich culture, innovative spirit, and commitment to sustainability. “It tells the world the story of a nation rich in culture, driven by innovation, and committed to building a sustainable and inclusive future,” he said.
Marcos also highlighted discussions with Japanese tourism leaders to attract more visitors to the Philippines and expand opportunities for Filipino workers. Additionally, a meeting with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) opened avenues for cooperation in space technology, including disaster monitoring and agricultural support.
The President capped his visit by meeting with the Filipino community in Osaka, whom he thanked for their professionalism and contributions to the country’s global reputation.
“No visit would be complete without spending time with our very own Filipino community in Osaka,” he said.
