MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) expressed deep concern over the latest developments in the Middle East, urging all parties involved to pursue diplomacy and avoid further escalation that could endanger regional and global security.

In a statement late Sunday, the DFA said the Philippine government is closely monitoring the situation and reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the welfare of Filipinos in the region.

“The welfare and safety of Filipinos in the region are of primordial concern, and the Philippine Government will relentlessly continue to advance and prioritize their protection,” the DFA said.

The department also assured that Philippine embassies across the Middle East are on alert and ready to provide assistance to Filipinos within their respective jurisdictions.

As tensions continue to rise, the DFA reiterated the Philippines’ longstanding position favoring a peaceful and diplomatic resolution to the conflict.
