MANILA, Philippines – At least 127 Filipinos in Israel have been displaced after their homes were damaged by missile attacks launched by Iran, the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv reported.
The embassy said the number of Filipinos seeking repatriation rose to 253 as of Sunday. One Filipino remains hospitalized in critical condition following major pulmonary surgery and is currently being treated in the intensive care unit of Shamir Medical Center. Another Filipino who suffered moderate to serious injuries has been discharged, while six others were treated for minor injuries.
Out of the 127 displaced, 118 have been moved to temporary housing, and nine are being processed for resettlement.
The Philippine government has intensified its emergency response following Israel’s declaration of heightened security alert amid escalating regional tensions. The Israeli government, through the Israel Defense Forces Home Front Command, placed the country under “Essential Activity” status, suspending classes, public gatherings, and limiting operations to essential services.
Officials from the Philippine Embassy and its rapid response team remain on full alert, conducting welfare checks and distributing aid to affected nationals.
The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said the first batch of 30 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs)—26 from Israel, three from Jordan, and one from the West Bank—are set to arrive in Manila on Tuesday aboard a commercial flight. They will be accompanied by Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac, who traveled to Amman, Jordan to lead onsite operations.
As of Monday, 375 Filipinos in affected areas have received emergency shelter, relief goods, financial assistance, and legal services related to employment and benefits claims.
Cacdac said a reintegration plan has been activated, including PHP150,000 in financial aid per returnee, TESDA training vouchers, psychosocial counseling from the DSWD, medical checkups from the DOH, and livelihood and job placement support from the DMW, DTI, DOLE, and other agencies, following the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Filipinos in Israel are urged to remain vigilant, follow safety protocols, and contact authorities if they need assistance or wish to join the voluntary repatriation program. The embassy may be reached through its emergency hotline (+972 54-4661188), OWWA Israel email (israel@owwa.gov.ph), telephone (+972-3-602-2496), or WhatsApp (+972-50-715-6937).
