MANILA, Philippines —Motorists should brace for higher fuel costs this week as major oil companies announced staggered price hikes beginning Monday, June 24.

In separate advisories, Seaoil, Shell, and Caltex said they will implement two rounds of increases: the first on June 24 and the second on June 26. For both dates, gasoline prices will go up by P1.75 per liter, diesel by P2.60 per liter, and kerosene by P2.40 per liter.

CleanFuel also announced it will raise prices starting June 24, with P2.60 per liter for diesel and P1.75 per liter for gasoline. It has not yet confirmed if it will impose a second round of hikes.

The Department of Energy earlier said oil firms agreed to stagger the increases to soften the blow of rising global oil prices on Filipino consumers.
