MANILA, Philippines — Rain showers will continue to affect several parts of the country on Tuesday due to a low pressure area (LPA) and the southwest monsoon or habagat, according to the state weather bureau.

In its 4 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA was spotted 210 kilometers west-southwest of Cubi Point, Subic Bay International Airport, or 290 km west of Ambulong, Tanauan City, Batangas as of 3 a.m.

PAGASA said the LPA has a medium chance of developing into a tropical cyclone within 24 hours.

The weather disturbance is forecast to bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Pangasinan, Zambales, and Bataan, while the southwest monsoon will continue to affect Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Bicol Region, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, and the rest of Central Luzon.

PAGASA warned that moderate to heavy rains in these areas may trigger flash floods or landslides, especially in low-lying or mountainous areas.

The rest of the country will also experience isolated rain showers due to the southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorms.

Despite the rains, light to moderate winds and slight to moderate sea conditions are expected across the country.
