MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has assured the individual who uploaded the viral video of GV Florida buses allegedly racing on a highway in Cagayan that they will receive full protection and legal support from the agency.
The commitment comes after GV Florida Transport, Inc. announced its intention to file legal cases against the uploader, sparking concerns about retaliation against whistleblowers.
“Para sa uploader ng nagkakarerang Florida buses: Wala kang dapat ikatakot dahil nasa likod mo ang buong DOTr,” said Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon, stressing the agency’s stance on upholding the rights of concerned citizens who report unsafe transportation practices.
The viral clip, which showed six GV Florida buses speeding alongside each other, has drawn widespread public concern and renewed calls for stricter enforcement of road safety regulations.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has also consistently emphasized that public utility vehicles (PUVs) must prioritize commuter safety and comfort, not endanger lives on the road.
The DOTr urged the public to continue reporting incidents of reckless or abusive drivers, promising swift action and protection for informants.
“We are serious about protecting citizens who report transportation-related abuses,” the agency said.
Members of the public can submit photos, videos, or reports directly to the DOTr through its official platforms.
