MANILA — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) assured the public of a stable supply of basic goods and committed to keeping prices within reasonable levels, amid fears of fuel-driven inflation stemming from the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel.

In a statement, Trade Secretary Cristina Roque said the DTI has intensified nationwide price monitoring and strengthened coordination with manufacturers and local government units to avert unjustified price hikes.

“We understand that even slight increases in the prices of basic goods can be felt deeply by ordinary Filipino families. This is why, in line with President Marcos Jr.’s directive, we are stepping up our nationwide monitoring efforts and working closely with industry players to prevent any unjustified price hikes,” Roque said.

The DTI is also implementing price stabilization measures to ensure that essential items remain affordable and accessible, especially during uncertain geopolitical conditions that could affect fuel prices.

Consumers are encouraged to help monitor prices by reporting any overpricing to the DTI through its One-DTI (1-384) Hotline or by emailing ConsumerCare@dti.gov.ph and ReporttoSec@dti.gov.ph. The latest suggested retail price bulletin is also available on the DTI website.
