COTABATO CITY — Operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested a suspected member of a local terrorist group wanted for murder, multiple frustrated murder, and arson in Cotabato City, authorities said.

Lutre Aman, alleged to be a bomb expert affiliated with the Daulah Islamiyah – Hassan Group, was apprehended on June 19 by agents of the NBI-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (NBI-BARMM), following a tip from a confidential informant.

Aman was arrested by virtue of arrest warrants issued by two Regional Trial Courts: for murder and multiple frustrated murder from RTC Branch 23 in Kidapawan City, and for destructive arson under Presidential Decree 1613 from RTC Branch 16 in Kabacan, Cotabato.

Authorities linked Aman to a 2021 bombing of a bus in Tulunan, North Cotabato that killed a fruit vendor and injured several passengers, as well as the burning of another bus in Miang, Cotabato later that year.

NBI Director Jaime Santiago (Ret.) commended the agents involved in the operation, which was conducted in line with the agency’s intensified campaign against local terrorist groups.

Aman was arrested without incident at a parking area in Penafrancia Village, Rosary Heights 11, Cotabato City.
