MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Monday, July 7, rescued two fishermen who had gone missing off the waters of Pilar, Bataan, following a search and rescue (SAR) operation involving BRP Boracay (FPB-2401) and the Coast Guard Station (CGS) Bataan.
The fishermen were found clinging to their half-submerged motorized banca approximately 4.7 nautical miles northeast by east of Orion at around 9:45 a.m., a day after their disappearance was reported.
By 9:50 a.m., the PCG SAR team successfully retrieved the individuals and brought them safely aboard BRP Boracay, where they received initial aid. The vessel then transported them to the Port of Capinpin in Orion, where their families, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) Orion, and medical responders were on standby.
The rescued fishermen were later brought to the Rural Health Unit in Barangay Wawa for further medical evaluation and observation.
CGS Bataan Commander Michael John Encina said the rescue operation stemmed from a July 6 report from the families of the missing individuals, prompting the immediate activation of SAR protocols.
