MANILA, Philippines—The National Bureau of Investigation – National Capital Region (NBI-NCR) has seized millions worth of counterfeit products during operations in Manila and Iligan City as part of its crackdown on trademark infringement.

Led by NBI-NCR Director Judge Jaime B. Santiago (Ret.), the bureau implemented multiple search warrants in Manila and Iligan on June 25 and 26, 2025, for violations of Section 155 in relation to Section 170 of Republic Act No. 8293, or the “Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.”

In Manila, the operation was conducted following a complaint from Orion Support, Inc. (OSI), representing luxury brands GUCCI, BOTTEGA VENETA, BALENCIAGA, and YSL. NBI-NCR agents, in coordination with the NBI Intellectual Property Rights Division (NBI-IPRD), served 20 search warrants against eight establishments. Authorities confiscated 882 counterfeit items bearing the brands’ trademarks, along with business documents and receipts. The seized goods were estimated to be worth around ₱30 million.

A day later, on June 26, NBI-NCR and NBI-IPRD acted on another OSI complaint, this time on behalf of lighting brand OSRAM. Two search warrants were served at separate locations in Iligan City, resulting in the confiscation of 226 counterfeit OSRAM products, documents, and receipts. The items had an estimated value of ₱100,000.

Director Santiago commended the agents for the successful implementation of the search warrants and reiterated the agency’s commitment to halting the sale and distribution of counterfeit goods. The NBI also urged the public not to patronize pirated products to protect intellectual property rights and support national economic growth.
