MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has released guidelines for the nationwide voter registration scheduled from August 1 to 10, in preparation for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) set for December.
According to Resolution No. 11155, the Comelec will accept various applications including new voter registration, correction of entries, change of name or civil status, reactivation of records, inclusion or reinstatement in the list of voters, and transfer of registration records from overseas to local.
Also covered during the registration period is the updating of records for persons with disabilities (PWDs), senior citizens (SCs), Indigenous Peoples (IPs), and other vulnerable sectors.
Applications must be personally filed at the Office of the Election Officer (OEO) in the city, municipality, or district where the applicant resides. Filing hours will be from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays to Sundays, including holidays.
Online reactivation — including reactivation with corrections or updates for SCs and PWDs — may also be done by emailing official OEO addresses from August 1 to 7.
However, the Comelec emphasized that it will not accept applications for local transfer of registration records during this period.
In the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), voter registration conducted in August will not apply to the Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections scheduled on October 13.
Meanwhile, the Register Anywhere Program (RAP) will run from August 1 to 7, limited to the National Capital Region, and selected areas in Central Luzon and Calabarzon. Under RAP, eligible registrants may submit their forms and documents, and have their biometrics taken on-site.
