MANILA, Philippines —Persons with disabilities (PWDs) will now enjoy a 50% fare discount on Metro Manila’s major rail lines, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced Wednesday, as part of the government’s expanded initiative to ease the daily transport burden on priority passengers.

During his visit to the MRT-3 Santolan-Anapolis Station, Marcos said the fare cut covers LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3, and is aimed at providing financial relief to around seven million PWDs.

The 50% discount, which mirrors a similar fare cut granted to students in June, will apply every day—including weekends and holidays—until 2028.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said the directive reflects the President’s priority to make public transportation more accessible to vulnerable groups.

PWDs can avail of the discount by presenting valid identification at ticket booths. Registered white Beep cards will automatically apply the reduced fare, while single journey ticket users can also access the discount upon presentation of ID.
