MANILA – Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Ariel F. Nepomuceno has reiterated the agency’s strict enforcement of its “No Take” policy, warning that corruption will not be tolerated under his administration.

In a statement, Nepomuceno emphasized that the policy – which prohibits bribery and any unlawful monetary transactions – is non-negotiable and will be enforced from the start to the end of his term.

“We cannot win the fight against corruption if stakeholders themselves continue to offer bribes or enter into under-the-table deals,” Nepomuceno said. “This is a shared responsibility. I expect all parties inside and outside the BOC to uphold the same standards of integrity. The ‘No Take’ policy is a standing commitment of my administration, and any violation will be addressed with the utmost firmness and urgency.”

He urged importers, customs brokers, and other trade industry players not only to comply but to actively support the agency’s anti-corruption efforts, noting that the success of the policy relies on both internal discipline and external cooperation.

“Let this be clear: those who choose to engage in corrupt practices, regardless of their role, will be held accountable,” he added.

Nepomuceno also encouraged the private sector to report any irregularities or corruption attempts they may encounter.

The BOC said it remains committed to building a culture of integrity, professional service, and accountability, and aims to foster a transparent and fair trade environment with the support of its stakeholders.
