MANILA—Malacañang assured the public that only verified information will be released regarding the failed flood control projects mentioned by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA).

“Hindi pa natin masasabi in detail kung sino at kung anong proyekto ito. Mas maganda po kasi kung mag-uulat kami ng verified,” Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said in a press briefing.

“Bubuuin muna po ang karampatang pag-iimbestiga dito para po ang maiuulat namin sa bayan ay verified facts,” she added.

Castro made the statement when asked if Malacañang had already identified the government officials allegedly involved in anomalous flood control projects.

In his SONA on Monday, President Marcos highlighted failed and non-existent flood control projects amid the massive flooding caused by the storm-enhanced southwest monsoon.

The President criticized those behind the projects, saying it was “no secret” that kickbacks were made from flood control efforts.

He directed the Department of Public Works and Highways and the Regional Project Monitoring Committee to conduct an investigation and submit a list of flood control projects to his office.

President Marcos also said he would publish the list so that the public could help identify irregularities and support the investigation.
