MANILA – A driver caught counterflowing along the Skyway while under the influence of alcohol will no longer be allowed to drive for life after Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon ordered the perpetual revocation of his license.

The sanction against Jake Nazareno followed President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to hold irresponsible and reckless drivers accountable to ensure road safety for all users.

Dizon said Nazareno appeared at the Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Tuesday to explain the incident and was found to have been intoxicated when caught counterflowing on the expressway.

“Hindi pwede ‘to. Lasing ka na nga, tapos nag-counterflow ka pa sa Skyway, at muntik ka pang makapatay dahil sa ginawa mo,” Dizon said.

Aside from losing his license permanently, Nazareno will also face charges for violating the Anti-Drunk Driving Act and Reckless Driving.

“Let this serve as an example to our motorists. The President, the government is serious about keeping people safe on the roads,” Dizon said.
