MANILA – The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation (PDIC) has warned bank borrowers against a fraudulent “Loan Compliance” notice falsely bearing its logo and requiring payment of insurance for loan applications.
In a statement released Monday (Aug. 18), PDIC said its Public Assistance Department received inquiries on the authenticity of the notice signed by a certain Luvina P. Soberano-Lim. The agency clarified that it neither requires insurance coverage for bank loans nor collects payments for such.
“The signatory of the notice is neither affiliated with nor authorized to represent PDIC in any transaction. The bank account indicated in the notice does not belong to PDIC,” the advisory said.
The agency urged the public to refrain from acting on the bogus notice and reminded that unauthorized use of the PDIC logo violates Regulatory Issuance No. 2025-01 on advertisements and proper use of its seal, insurance statements, and signages.
It also called on the public to remain vigilant and verify suspicious activities through PDIC’s official channels:
- Email: pad@pdic.gov.ph
- Hotline: (02) 8841-4141 (Metro Manila)
- Toll-free: 1-800-1-8888-7342 (outside Metro Manila)
- Official Facebook and X accounts (@OfficialPDIC)
The PDIC, created under Republic Act 3591 in 1963, is mandated to protect depositors and maintain stability in the financial system.
