MANILA – Four national road sections in Northern Luzon remain closed due to landslides and flooding triggered by the Southwest Monsoon and a Low-Pressure Area, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) reported on Sunday.

In its 10:00 a.m. report to DPWH Secretary Vince B. Dizon, the DPWH Bureau of Maintenance said the affected roads are the Baguio-Itogon Road in Itogon, Benguet; Balbalan-Pinukpuk Road in Pinukpuk, Kalinga; Lubuagan-Batong Buhay-Abra Boundary Road in Pasil, Kalinga; and the Cabagan-Sta. Maria Road in Isabela.

The agency said the closures were caused by soil collapse, rock collapse, and high water elevation.

Meanwhile, the DPWH said it has cleared and reopened the Cagayan-Apayao Road, particularly the Itawes Overflow Bridge 1 in Sta. Barbara, Piat, Cagayan, which had earlier been rendered impassable.

The DPWH added that two national road sections remain passable only to light vehicles: Kennon Road in Tuba, Benguet, and the Luyang-Poo-Lazi Road in Siquijor.
