MANILA – The National Bureau of Investigation – Intellectual Property Rights Division (NBI-IPRD) confiscated counterfeit products worth more than ₱8 million in operations conducted in Bataan, Manila, and Pasay in August.

The NBI said its agents carried out several search warrants on August 20 and August 28–29 for violations of Section 155 (Trademark Infringement) in relation to Section 170 of Republic Act No. 8293.

The case was based on a complaint filed against the occupants and lessees of stores in the said locations for allegedly distributing counterfeit products bearing the JANSPORT trademark.

Authorities seized 4,555 pieces of assorted items with an estimated value of ₱8,144,950.

NBI Director Jaime B. Santiago (Ret.) commended the IPRD for the successful implementation of the search warrants and urged the public to stop patronizing pirated goods to protect the rights of brand owners.
