MANILA — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has canceled his scheduled trip to the United States to attend the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York this month.
Presidential Communications Office Secretary Dave Gomez announced the cancellation Monday.
The Palace has not disclosed the reason for the cancellation as of posting time.
The 80th session of the UNGA opened earlier this month, with the High-level Week—when heads of state and government typically deliver their addresses—scheduled from September 22 to 30.
The UNGA serves as the main legislative and policymaking body of the United Nations, where world leaders meet to discuss international issues under the UN Charter.
