MANILA — The Department of Transportation (DOTr) filed criminal charges against two former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officials for allegedly using fake driver’s licenses to enter a casino.

Acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez, together with Land Transportation Office (LTO) Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza, lodged complaints for violation of Article 172 of the Revised Penal Code (Use of Falsified Documents) before the Parañaque Prosecutor’s Office against former Bulacan District Engineer Henry Alcantara and former Assistant District Engineer Brice Hernandez, both members of the so-called “BGC Boys.”

The case was filed in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to hold accountable individuals using fraudulent licenses.

“The DOTr and LTO will not allow anyone—whether government officials or private individuals—to disrespect the integrity of our licenses. They will be held liable under the law,” Lopez said.

If convicted, Alcantara and Hernandez face up to six years in prison and a fine of ₱1 million. Their driver’s licenses have also been permanently revoked by the LTO.

Lopez added that similar charges are being prepared against other “BGC Boys” members identified as Arjay Domasig and Jaypee Mendoza.

“This is a reminder to the public: using fake driver’s licenses is a crime. We will go after violators,” Lopez warned.
