
MANILA – Cash remittances sent home by overseas Filipinos (OFs) posted sustained growth in July 2025, with sea-based workers recording slightly faster growth than their land-based counterparts, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) data showed.
Cash remittances rose by 3 percent to US$3.18 billion in July 2025 from US$3.08 billion in the same month last year, according to BSP.
Land-based OFs accounted for the bulk of the remittances at US$2.59 billion, up 3 percent year-on-year, while sea-based OFs sent US$585 million, up 3.1 percent.
Cumulative cash remittances for the January–July 2025 period climbed to US$19.93 billion, a 3.1 percent increase from US$19.33 billion recorded in the same period in 2024.
The United States remained the leading source of remittances during the first seven months of 2025, followed by Singapore and Saudi Arabia.
The growth in cash remittances also fueled an increase in personal remittances, which include cash sent through banks and informal channels, as well as remittances in kind.
Personal remittances rose 3.1 percent to US$3.53 billion in July 2025 from US$3.43 billion a year earlier. Cumulative personal remittances from January to July 2025 reached US$22.21 billion, up 3.1 percent from US$21.53 billion in the same period last year.
