MANILA – The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) have dismantled two illegal mining sites in Davao de Oro following a joint operation in Barangay Bahi, Marasugan.

In a statement, the NBI said its Southeastern Mindanao Regional Office (NBI-SEMRO), in coordination with MGB Region XI, launched simultaneous operations in Purok Lanipga and Purok Mandaupan with support from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Authorities found abandoned bunkers and tunnels indicating recent mining activity. The operation led to the seizure of various mining equipment and several sacks of copper and mineral ores.

NBI Director Medardo De Lemos praised NBI-SEMRO agents for their efforts and cited the MGB’s collaboration as key to the success of the operation. He also thanked the AFP and PNP for their assistance in securing the sites.
