MANILA – The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee cited Pacifico “Curlee” Discaya in contempt for giving inconsistent statements during the panel’s hearing on alleged anomalies in flood control projects.
The move came after Senator Raffy Tulfo filed a motion to cite Discaya in contempt, which was seconded by Senator Erwin Tulfo. Committee chairperson Senator Panfilo Lacson then ruled to hold Discaya in contempt.
Discaya was asked to explain the absence of his wife, Cezarah “Sarah” Discaya, who was also summoned to the hearing. He told the panel that she could not attend due to a heart condition, contradicting a letter she had sent earlier stating she had a scheduled meeting with her employees.
Pressed further, Discaya said his wife also suffers from diabetes and hypertension, which senators pointed out as further inconsistencies in his testimony.
“Very inconsistent ang pinagsasabi nito! Mag-asawa sila at imposibleng hindi sila nag-uusap sa health condition ng misis niya. Pinagloloko tayo ng mga ‘to!” Senator Raffy Tulfo said.
The senator also warned that he would reveal more information to expose what he described as additional falsehoods from the Discayas.
