MANILA — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has arrested three individuals in Olongapo City for their alleged involvement in syndicated swindling and falsification of documents, the agency reported.
NBI Director Jaime B. Santiago said operatives from the NBI-Olongapo District Office (NBI-OLDO) nabbed suspects Mary Paz Felonia Leonardo, Glenda G. Olea, and Angelie V. Antinez on September 18.
The operation stemmed from a complaint alleging that Leonardo posed as the rightful owner of a property in Subic, Zambales. Complainants said the land titles they received, valued at ₱2 million each, turned out to be fake.
According to investigators, Leonardo and her cohorts were also offering the same property to another potential buyer using a different falsified title.
Verification with the Register of Deeds confirmed that both the titles previously sold and those being offered were counterfeit.
Acting on the complaint, NBI-OLDO operatives launched an entrapment operation that resulted in the arrest of Leonardo, Olea, and Antinez while they were receiving marked money from a victim.
The suspects are facing inquest proceedings for syndicated swindling, falsification of public and official documents, and use of falsified documents.
