MANILA – The National Bureau of Investigation-Cybercrime Division (NBI-CCD) arrested a Chinese national in Parañaque City for alleged human trafficking and rescued two Vietnamese women during an entrapment operation on September 25.

The suspect, identified as Wang Gang alias “Kelvin Lee,” was apprehended in a hotel after allegedly arranging the delivery of the victims for sexual exploitation. He is facing charges for violating Republic Act (RA) 9208 or the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003, as amended by RA 10364 and RA 11862, in relation to RA 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

The operation stemmed from an intelligence report linking Wang to trafficking activities, offering women to foreigners for sexual favors at rates from ₱25,000 to ₱70,000 per night. NBI-CCD agents, with the help of an informant, posed as customers and agreed to pay ₱35,000 each for two Vietnamese women, with a ₱5,000 downpayment to confirm the deal.

Upon Wang’s arrival at the hotel with the victims, agents arrested him after he accepted the entrapment money. The rescued women were immediately placed under protective custody.

NBI Director Medardo de Lemos commended the CCD agents for the successful operation, which he said underscored the bureau’s commitment to combating human trafficking and cyber-enabled crimes.
