MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. called on newly promoted military officials and newly commissioned junior officers to remain vigilant against domestic threats while strengthening the country’s external defense.
Speaking at the oathtaking ceremony in Malacañan Palace for Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Batch 2 generals and flag officers and newly commissioned second lieutenants and ensigns from Foreign Pre-Commissioned Training Institutions (FPCTI), Marcos warned that the nation continues to face “challenges and pressures aimed at weakening the nation’s social foundations.”
“From disinformation campaigns to ideological radicalization, these domestic threats seek to sow confusion and division among us. We must not, we will not stand idle in the face of such threats,” he said.
The President underscored the AFP’s crucial role in safeguarding the country. “This is where your role in the AFP becomes indispensable—to hold the line and do it with resolve, with clarity, and loyalty to your constitutional duty,” he said.
He assured the military of his support, saying: “As your Commander-in-Chief, I stand in line with you in every trial, in every mission, and in every step taken for our great Republic.”
Marcos also reminded the newly promoted officers that their ranks carry the trust of the people. “Lead with courage, not comfort. Serve with vision, not vanity. Let every decision you make and every command that you give be anchored in integrity, in discipline, and in duty,” he said.
The President congratulated the honorees for their recognition and extended gratitude to their families for their patience and sacrifices.
