MANILA – The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has reaffirmed its commitment to provide sustained assistance to the families of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) sentenced to death in Kuwait.

DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac said the agency will ensure that the dependents of affected OFWs, especially their young children, receive the care and support they need.

“Patuloy tayong magbibigay ng serbisyo at tulong sa kaniyang pamilya—lalo na sa mga anak na menor de edad na higit na nangangailangan ng kalinga at gabay sa ganitong sitwasyon,” Cacdac said.

“Ang mga anak nila ang nagsisilbing inspirasyon sa kanilang sakripisyo. Sisiguraduhin naming patuloy silang masuportahan, mabigyan ng maayos na edukasyon, at gabay para sa kanilang emosyonal na kalagayan,” he added.

Cacdac also stressed that the department has deployed active legal representatives to defend the rights of OFWs facing grave charges overseas.

“Walang tigil ang ating legal teams sa pagbibigay ng depensa at pagtutulak ng katarungan para sa ating mga OFW. Hindi natin sila iiwan,” he said.

Beyond legal aid, the DMW provides financial and livelihood support to sustain the needs of families left behind.

“Sisiguraduhin nating makakapagpatuloy sa pag-aaral ang mga anak, at matutulungan din ang asawang naiwan upang maitaguyod ang pamilya,” Cacdac said.

According to the DMW, the agency is currently handling more than 1,500 legal cases involving OFWs worldwide, including those facing serious charges abroad.

“Regular din tayong nagsasagawa ng jail visits sa mga nakakulong na OFWs, bilang pagpapakita ng ating pagkalinga at pakikiisa sa kanila,” Cacdac added.
