MANILA – Thousands of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Taiwan are set to benefit from a minimum wage increase beginning January 1, 2026, according to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).

Taiwan’s Ministry of Labor announced that the minimum monthly wage will rise to NT$29,500 (about US$967), while the hourly rate will be set at NT$196. The DMW welcomed the development, citing it as aligned with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to uphold the rights and welfare of OFWs through fair wages and stronger protection abroad.

“We are grateful to the government of Taiwan and labor organizations for their efforts in making this wage hike possible. This is a victory for all workers in Taiwan, especially for our OFWs. The DMW will ensure that our OFWs fully benefit from this increase,” said Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac.

The department added that once approved by Taiwan’s Executive Yuan, the adjustment will provide significant relief to thousands of Filipinos employed across different industries, helping them cope with daily expenses and extend greater support to their families in the Philippines.

This marks the 10th consecutive year that Taiwan has implemented a wage increase.
