CAMP CAPINPIN, Rizal – Soldiers from the 2nd Infantry (Jungle Fighter) Division recovered a significant arms cache belonging to the New People’s Army (NPA) in Barangay Submakin, Labo, Camarines Norte.

The operation followed information from a former NPA member who disclosed the location of the hidden war materiel, reportedly intended for future hostile activities.

Recovered items included:

  • Four M16A1 rifles
  • One Thompson Cal. 45 submachine gun
  • 37 magazines
  • 3,038 rounds of ammunition
  • Two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs)
  • 100 blasting caps
  • Two rolls of detonating cord

Officials noted that this recovery reflects the declining influence of the NPA in Southern Luzon, as more former members are abandoning the armed struggle and embracing calls for peace and development.

The 2nd Infantry Division emphasized its commitment to maintaining security and supporting local communities in the region.
