MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has appointed Secretary of Justice Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla as the new Ombudsman of the Philippines, following the end of Samuel R. Martires’ term in July.
Remulla previously served as the 59th Secretary of Justice since June 2022, during which he spearheaded reforms to modernize the justice system, decongest prisons, expedite case resolution, and broaden access to legal services.
His decades-long career as a legislator, governor, and lawyer has earned him recognition for integrity and dedication to public service.
As Ombudsman, Remulla is tasked with upholding transparency, strengthening anti-corruption measures, and ensuring justice is administered fairly and efficiently.
“The administration remains firm in its commitment to fight corruption wherever it exists,” the Palace said. “There will be no sacred cows, no exemptions, and no excuses. Public office is a public trust, and those who betray it will be held accountable.”
President Marcos emphasized that transparency, fairness, and the rule of law will continue to guide the government’s efforts toward a Bagong Pilipinas that serves the Filipino people.
