MANILA – The National Bureau of Investigation – Southeastern Mindanao Regional Office (NBI-SEMRO) has arrested a man in Davao City for qualified rape, in violation of Republic Act No. 8353 (The Anti-Rape Law) as amended by R.A. No. 11648.
The arrest stemmed from a warrant of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 33 in Davao City against the suspect, who allegedly sexually assaulted his own minor daughter, according to the victim’s guardian. The case was earlier investigated by the Office of the City Prosecutor of Davao City, which led to the issuance of the warrant.
On October 7, 2025, NBI-SEMRO agents served the warrant at Ecoland, Davao City, where the suspect was selling banana-cue along the street. He was subsequently arrested and brought to the NBI-SEMRO office for standard booking procedures.
NBI Director Judge Jaime B. Santiago (Ret.) commended the agents involved in the operation and underscored the Bureau’s commitment to protect children and support victims of sexual violence.
He said the NBI would “exhaust every lawful avenue to hold perpetrators of such heinous acts to account – because where a child is harmed, the full force of justice will follow.”
