MANILA – The Department of Education (DepEd) reminded the public that preventive class suspensions are part of ongoing safety measures to ensure the protection of students, teachers, and personnel while schools conduct preparedness activities.
In an advisory dated October 13, 2025, the DepEd said Regional and Schools Division Offices may implement temporary suspensions of classes to allow for structural inspections and other activities that would ensure readiness in case of strong earthquakes or other calamities.
“These steps are also aligned with preventive health measures,” the advisory said.
During preventive suspensions, the DepEd said alternative learning modalities will continue to be implemented to ensure uninterrupted education while prioritizing safety.
The agency also called for the cooperation of parents, teachers, and local government units in these initiatives to guarantee that every school remains prepared and safe against any disaster.
