MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. assured the public that his administration remains on “solid ground,” despite alleged destabilization attempts.

Speaking to reporters after the oath-taking of the newly elected officers of the Malacañang Press Corps, Marcos expressed confidence that key sectors of society continue to back the government’s programs and advocacies.

“What I can say is that we are confident that the important sectors of society, the power centers of society and of the administration are very supportive still of the advocacies of the administration, the programs of the administration,” Marcos said.

He added that the administration “worked very hard” to gain and maintain such support.

“When you ask me how confident I am, all I can say is that in our assessment, we are still very much on solid ground in terms of support from the different sectors of society,” he said.

While expressing confidence, Marcos cautioned against complacency, saying he remains “very careful” to ensure that everyone continues to be part of and supportive of the administration.

The President also said he is open to dialogue with individuals and groups who may have grievances or complaints against the government.

“We always go to them and say, what can we do to accommodate your advocacy or some of the things that they would like the national government to do,” he said. “We try to listen to everyone. And that’s the only real way that you can keep the support of people in different sectors.”

Malacañang earlier said Marcos is unfazed by alleged coup plots from certain factions, stressing that the President continues to trust the loyalty of the country’s security forces.

Marcos has also urged the Armed Forces of the Philippines to remain resolute against any attempts to sow confusion and division in the nation. (PNA)
