MANILA – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has rescued four fishermen from a distressed fishing banca that went missing off the waters of Mariveles, Bataan.
In a report, the PCG said the fishing vessel FBCA John Vincent and its crew were found adrift after experiencing engine trouble since 11 p.m. on October 12.
Following a directive received at 11:11 p.m. on October 14, the PCG deployed the BRP Boracay (FPB-2401) to conduct search and rescue operations. The patrol vessel arrived in the area at around 3:10 a.m. on October 15 and immediately began scanning nearby waters.
At about 4:10 a.m., BRP Boracay located the missing fishing boat and dispatched a rigid-hulled inflatable boat to conduct an initial assessment. One fisherman remained onboard the FBCA John Vincent after being cleared of any medical issues, while three others were brought to the PCG vessel for evaluation and assistance.
All four crew members were found in stable condition, with one sustaining only a minor scratch. The PCG provided them with food, water, and psychological support before towing their vessel back to shore.
The FBCA John Vincent and its crew were safely brought to Mariveles Harbor at 10:28 a.m. on October 15 and turned over to the Coast Guard Sub-Station Mariveles.
