MANILA—The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of all five provinces and two highly urbanized cities in Northern Mindanao grew in 2024 compared to 2023, according to the latest data released by the Philippine Statistics Authority.

Iligan City posted the fastest growth at 8.8 percent, followed by Camiguin at 8.6 percent, Misamis Occidental at 7.5 percent, and Cagayan de Oro City at 6.8 percent. These four areas surpassed the regional growth rate of 6.0 percent.

In terms of economic structure, Bukidnon remained agriculture-based, with agriculture, forestry, and fishing contributing 48.2 percent of its GDP. The rest of the region’s economies were service-oriented. Services accounted for 61.2 percent of Camiguin’s GDP, 47.2 percent of Lanao del Norte’s, 76.2 percent of Misamis Occidental’s, 48.3 percent of Misamis Oriental’s, 76.5 percent of Cagayan de Oro City’s, and 52.0 percent of Iligan City’s.

Total Industry covered mining and quarrying, manufacturing, electricity, steam, water and waste management, and construction. Meanwhile, Total Services included wholesale and retail trade, transportation, accommodation and food service, information and communication, finance, real estate, professional services, public administration, education, health, and other service activities.
