MANILA — The MRT-3 management began deploying six four-car trains for revenue service as part of efforts to improve efficiency during peak hours.
The initiative is aimed at shortening waiting times and reducing passenger buildup, particularly during the morning rush between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.
Each four-car train can accommodate up to 1,576 passengers per trip—an increase of 394 passengers compared to the regular three-car configuration.
“This means more passengers can be carried per trip in a 4-car train,” the MRT-3 management said.
The agency said it will closely monitor the performance of the four-car trains and determine whether they will be deployed regularly.
MRT-3 reaffirmed its commitment to implementing measures that enhance performance and ensure “fast, safe, affordable, and comfortable transportation for all passengers.”
