MANILA – Young Filipinos will gather next week for an anti-corruption community prayer rally in front of the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, more popularly known as the Manila Cathedral, in Intramuros, Manila.
According to a social media post from the Manila Cathedral, the event titled “Memorare: A Day of Lament and Prayer of Young People” will be held at 4 p.m. on October 31.
“With growing awareness and engagement among young people in the call for transparency, accountability, and good governance, let us gather in prayer and discernment, imploring the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Queen of the Holy Rosary, for our country,” the post read.
Organizers encouraged attendees to wear white clothes or white ribbons as a symbol of peace and unity.
The activity forms part of a growing series of public demonstrations calling for transparency and accountability amid controversies surrounding government flood control projects.
The first major rally, dubbed the “Trillion Peso March,” was held on September 21 at Rizal Park in Manila and the People Power Monument in Quezon City, drawing participation from civil society organizations, religious groups, celebrities, and ordinary citizens.
More recently, civil society groups have launched weekly “White Friday Protests” in various parts of the country to demand accountability from officials linked to alleged irregularities in infrastructure spending. (PNA)
