HONG KONG — The Philippine fashion industry made a strong impression in Hong Kong’s Autumn/Winter fashion season with its participation in the 10th edition of CENTRESTAGE, Asia’s leading fashion trade show, held from September 3 to 6 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) in Wan Chai.

Filipino designers also showcased their work in other major fashion events across the city.

Seven Philippine-owned fashion labels presented their collections at CENTRESTAGE 2025.

These included Martin Uy of Martin Uy, Christian Rodriguez of THIAN Rodriguez Manila, Rusell Tero Villafuerte of StrongVillage, Marigrace Reaño of MJorian, Gato and Daniella of Daniella by D11B, and Joanah and Ritche of Alunsinag. Alta Bella, a Filipino clothing brand based in Macao SAR led by Bella Horner, was also featured.

The brands highlighted a variety of styles, from architectural and metallic-infused designs to artisanal shoes and sustainable resortwear.

Consul General Romulo Victor M. Israel, Jr. visited the Filipino designers’ booths, discussing their inspirations, challenges, and future plans while expressing admiration for their collections. His presence underscored the Consulate’s support for Filipino talent on the international stage.

Filipino creativity was further recognized at the Redress Design Award 2025, where Mara San Pedro won the People’s Choice Award for her zero-waste womenswear collection crafted from upcycled native textiles, including piña and abaca silk.

The Arao Jewelry Designer Series pop-up at The Upper House in Admiralty also featured Filipino designers Jor-el Espina and Jo Ann Bitagcol alongside Arao, known for ethically sourced South Sea pearls and minimalist gold pieces. Mr. Espina showcased modern Filipiniana silhouettes using piña and jusi fabrics, while Ms. Bitagcol presented photo-printed garments inspired by vintage Filipino imagery.

CENTRESTAGE 2025, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, featured over 260 brands from 25 countries and regions and attracted thousands of trade buyers and fashion enthusiasts. The Philippines’ strong presence across the exhibition and satellite events highlighted the country’s growing influence in contemporary fashion and its ability to merge heritage, sustainability, and innovation.
