MANILA — The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) said it has issued a subpoena to former Ako Bicol Party-list Representative Elizaldy “Zaldy” Co to appear before the body.
ICI Executive Director Brian Keith Hosaka said the subpoena was sent to Co’s “last known address in Pasig and Bicol.”
“The date of the subpoena to former Cong. Elizalde Co was dated Oct. 20, and the date of the hearings are set on Nov. 11 and 12,” Hosaka said in a message to reporters.
Hosaka said Co was first asked to appear before the commission on October 8.
Co, who previously chaired the House Appropriations Committee, has been accused of receiving kickbacks from questionable flood control projects.
He was reportedly in the United States to seek medical treatment when he was implicated in the alleged irregularities in public works projects. Co resigned from the House of Representatives on September 29.
Meanwhile, Hosaka clarified that the ICI has not sent any invitation to Senator Christopher “Bong” Go to testify before the commission.
“No invitation has been sent by the commission to Senator Bong Go to appear as resource person,” he said, addressing reports quoting former senator Antonio Trillanes IV that Go had refused an ICI invitation.
