MANILA – The Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced that it will be on full force across all international airports nationwide during the Undas holidays, as thousands of travelers are expected to take advantage of the long weekend.
With October 31 declared a special non-working holiday, the BI said it anticipates a surge of passengers at major airports beginning Friday through the following week. All immigration counters will be fully manned to ensure smooth processing of arriving and departing passengers.
BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said additional personnel have been deployed and measures implemented to maintain efficient passenger movement despite the expected increase in travelers.
“Our officers will be working round-the-clock to accommodate the influx of passengers during the Undas break,” Viado said. “We advise travelers to arrive at the airport at least three hours before their flight to avoid delays.”
Viado reminded the public to expect some lines at immigration counters due to the heavy passenger volume but assured that processing will remain manageable.
He added that while ongoing airport improvement works may slightly affect movement in some terminals, operations will continue as usual.
“The Bureau is coordinating closely with airport authorities to ensure that despite construction and facility upgrades, services remain uninterrupted,” Viado said. “We ask for the public’s patience and understanding as these improvements are meant to enhance the overall airport experience.”
The BI also encouraged travelers to check its official Facebook page, Facebook.com/officialbureauofimmigration, for updates and photos of airport operations to help passengers gauge terminal activity before heading to the airport.
The Bureau reiterated its commitment to providing efficient and secure immigration services throughout the holiday period, ensuring a smooth and safe journey for both Filipino and foreign travelers.
