BUSAN, South Korea – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. emphasized the importance of the Philippines’ participation in the 32nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Gyeongju, Republic of Korea, citing its potential to boost trade, attract investments, create jobs, and provide training opportunities for Filipino workers.

Addressing the Filipino community in Busan, Marcos said the APEC meetings will focus on strengthening economies, expediting trade and services, and ensuring that small and medium enterprises benefit from inclusive growth.

“Para sa Pilipinas, malaking tulong ang APEC. Pinag-uusapan sa APEC kung paano mapapadali ang pagpasok ng negosyo,” the President said.

“Mas maraming negosyo, mas maraming trabaho. Mas maraming trabaho, mas maraming oportunidad at mas matibay na ekonomiya para sa mga pamilya natin,” he added.

The President also underscored APEC’s role in education and skills exchange, saying partnerships within the regional bloc will help provide more training and scholarship opportunities—particularly in digital skills, science, and technology—for the youth.

During the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, Marcos said he would push for initiatives that directly benefit Filipino families, such as support for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), digital trade opportunities, food and energy security, and sustainable job creation both locally and abroad.

He added that he will meet with business leaders and partner governments on the sidelines of the summit to encourage investments in key Philippine industries, including technology, agriculture, and renewable energy.

“Our participation in APEC 2025 shows that the Philippines is an active and responsible partner in building a more innovative, fair, and interconnected Asia-Pacific region,” Marcos said.

“We stand ready to work with our neighbors to ensure that progress is shared — no Filipino is left behind.”
