MANILA — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has confiscated a substantial volume of counterfeit luxury products and unlicensed software in a series of operations across Manila, Pasay, and Pasig City, as part of the government’s intensified campaign against intellectual property violations.
The NBI-Intellectual Property Rights Division (IPRD) said the operations were conducted on two separate occasions, resulting in the seizure of fake Louis Vuitton merchandise and computers loaded with pirated software.
On October 27, 2025, NBI-IPRD agents implemented nine search warrants targeting stalls in Baclaran LRT Shopping Mall and Baclaran Terminal 1 Building in Pasay City, as well as an establishment in Manila, for violation of Republic Act No. 8293 or the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.
Authorities recovered 3,063 counterfeit Louis Vuitton items valued at ₱342.67 million.
A day later, on October 28, agents executed another search warrant in Pasig City, where they seized four laptops containing counterfeit STAAD Bentley software worth ₱1.43 million. The operation stemmed from a complaint filed by the software’s rights holders, with NBI surveillance confirming the illegal use of pirated copies.
Charges are being prepared against the owners of the establishments involved.
The NBI emphasized that these actions underscore the government’s commitment to protecting intellectual property rights and fostering a fair business environment.
“The NBI is committed to protecting and supporting the interests of legitimate business owners and investors. These operations aim to enhance foreign investor confidence and ensure that legitimate businesses can thrive,” the agency said in a statement, warning the public against purchasing counterfeit goods that harm the economy.
