MANILA — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has assured a group of Filipino seafarers deported from the United States that their concerns will be carefully addressed.

In a meeting on Wednesday, Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretary Ezzedin Tago of the Office of Migration Affairs received representatives from the International Seafarers Action Center, who reported that more than 100 Filipino seafarers have been summarily deported from the US.

Tago said the DFA will coordinate with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Philippine Embassy in Washington, D.C. to verify the reports and ensure that appropriate assistance is provided to the affected nationals.
