MANILA — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the Philippine National Police–Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) apprehended six colorum vehicles during a joint intelligence-driven operation along EDSA-Taft Avenue in Pasay City.

According to LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao, the operation—conducted by the LTO Law Enforcement Service and the PNP-HPG Special Operations Division—was part of the government’s intensified campaign against illegal public utility vehicles operating without proper franchises. The initiative follows the directive of Acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Z. Lopez and in compliance with the order of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

Among those intercepted last Wednesday was a utility van express (UVE) with plate number TXV 461, which was impounded for violations including operating an unregistered vehicle and presenting an expired Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) and Provisional Authority (PA) during inspection.

Five other private vehicles were also found to be illegally operating as “for hire” units without authorization from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

Lacanilao commended the LTO Law Enforcement Service and PNP-HPG operatives for the successful operation, which forms part of continuing efforts to ensure road safety and full compliance with transportation laws.
