MANILA — The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has placed all area centers and airport operations on heightened alert ahead of Severe Tropical Storm Fung-wong’s entry into the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

CAAP Director General Raul Del Rosario on Friday directed airport managers, especially in areas likely to be affected, to activate emergency preparedness and response plans.

The alert comes as the country continues to recover from Typhoon Tino, which killed hundreds and displaced thousands across the Visayas and Mindanao.

CAAP said it is coordinating with airlines, local government units, and disaster response teams to ensure swift action in case of flight diversions or airport disruptions. Travelers are advised to monitor flight advisories and arrive early at airports, as weather disturbances may lead to sudden schedule changes.

Cebu Pacific has already canceled its Bicol flights 5J321 and 5J322, allowing affected passengers to rebook or request refunds without additional fees. (PNA)
