MANILA — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has deployed personnel and equipment nationwide in preparation for the onslaught of Super Typhoon Uwan, in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure early disaster response.
DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon said the agency’s Disaster and Incident Management Teams (DIMT) were dispatched to critical areas, mobilizing 9,405 personnel and 1,603 equipment units, including heavy machinery for clearing operations and emergency repairs.
Dizon emphasized the importance of preparedness to ensure quick road clearing for rescue and relief efforts once the typhoon hits.
He added that the DPWH continues to monitor major roads to provide real-time updates on road closures and ensure motorists’ safety during the typhoon’s passage.
