MANILA — Chief presidential legal counsel Juan Ponce Enrile is in the intensive care unit (ICU) for pneumonia, Senator Jinggoy Estrada said.

Estrada, who was co-accused with Enrile in the pork barrel scam, asked the Senate to pray for the former Senate president.

“I heard from a reliable source, a very, very reliable source, that he has slim chances of surviving. And I hope that all of us present here can have a short prayer to be led by Sen. Joel Villanueva,” Estrada said.

Reporters have reached out to Malacañang for confirmation of Enrile’s condition, but the Palace has yet to respond.

At 101 years old, Enrile is the oldest member of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s Cabinet.
