MANILA — Min Bernardo, mother of actress Kathryn Bernardo, called out those spreading false and twisted stories about her daughter on social media, urging the public to stop using Kathryn’s name or image for unverified content.
The celebrity mother spoke out after Star Magic, Kathryn’s talent management agency, issued a warning about a fake quote falsely attributed to the actress. Some posts claimed Kathryn made remarks criticizing President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., which were untrue.
“Please stop using my daughter’s name or image on your platform, especially if the stories you share are not true/splice,” Min Bernardo said in an Instagram post on Wednesday, Nov. 12. “Ang isang kwento pag dinagdagan o binawasan ng kahit isang salita, naiiba ang kahulugan, at nagiging FAKE NEWS.”
She added that her family had endured the misinformation in silence for a long time but emphasized limits to patience and tolerance. “Don’t twist the story para lang dumami ang viewers niyo. It’s unfair… Remember, as a mother, there’s a limit to how much pain and silence one can bear,” she said.
Min also thanked a real estate executive who confirmed that Kathryn prefers to remain apolitical. The actress herself shared Star Magic’s statement on the matter.
